Commercial Locksmith — Melbourne

A business lock has a job a house lock does not: it has to let the right staff in, keep everyone else out, survive being used forty times a day, and never be the reason people cannot get out in a fire. We work on commercial sites across Melbourne, and we work around trading hours rather than through them.

Commercial Locksmith

Tell us what you need and we'll call you back.

No obligation, and no price is quoted until someone has seen the lock.

What this covers

  • Shopfront and glass door locks
  • Fire exit and panic hardware
  • Roller shutter and warehouse locks
  • Staff key control and lost-key response
  • Cabinet, till and stock room locks
  • Common-area and tenancy handovers
  • After-hours and out-of-trading-hours work

How we work

Everything happens where the lock is. There is no shop, no counter and nothing for you to drop off — the key machines, the cylinders and the tools travel in the van, which is also why there is no closing time to work around.

You get the cost before any work starts. No prices are published on this site, deliberately: a real figure depends on the hardware, the door, the time of day and where you are, and a number on a web page would be wrong more often than it was right. What we will do is tell you on the phone what is likely, and confirm it in person before anything is touched.

We ask you to prove your right to the property or the vehicle on every single job, without exception. It is the same check that stops somebody doing this to your home.

Commercial Locksmith — what people say

  • Shopfront lock finally gave up after years of being cycled forty times a day. He came after close so we did not lose a trading hour, and flagged that our back fire exit had been fitted with the wrong hardware by someone else.
    James P.Footscray
  • Locked myself out at 11pm with the baby asleep inside. He talked me through it on the phone, told me which van was closest, and had the door open without a mark on it. I was told what it would cost before he started, which at that hour is not what I expected.
    Sarah M.Brunswick
  • Rekeyed every lock in the house the week we moved in — front, back, laundry, garage side door — all onto one key. He also pointed out that the sliding door lock was basically decorative and sorted that while he was here.

Commercial Locksmith — questions

Can you work outside our trading hours?

Yes, and for most retail and hospitality sites that is the only sensible way to do it. A shopfront lock change during Saturday trade costs far more in lost custom than it does in labour.

A staff member left and did not return their key. What now?

Rekey whatever that key opened, and take the opportunity to decide whether the next key should be restricted so it cannot be copied at a hardware store. If it happens more than once a year, the honest answer is that you need a key system rather than a set of keys.

Is our fire exit hardware compliant?

We can tell you what is installed and where it does not meet the requirement — most commonly a fire exit that has been chained, padlocked or fitted with a lock needing a key to get out. What we cannot do is certify the building; that is a job for your building surveyor. We fix the hardware and we tell you plainly what we found.

Do you handle multiple sites?

Yes. Multi-site retailers and property managers are a large part of what we do, and it is the situation where a properly designed key system pays for itself fastest.
