My key is getting harder to turn. Is the lock about to fail?

Often it is not the lock at all — it is the door sitting slightly differently against the strike, so the bolt is dragging. That is an adjustment, not a replacement. If the cylinder itself is worn we will tell you, and we will tell you whether it is worth repairing.

Someone tried to force the door. Can it be repaired tonight?

Usually we can make it secure the same visit, even where a full repair needs parts or a carpenter. Getting the door closing and locking before dark is the priority; the tidy version can follow.

Is repair always cheaper than replacement?

No, and we will say so when it is not. A cheap builder-grade lock that has already failed once is often not worth a repair visit. What we will not do is quote you a replacement for something that needs fifteen minutes of adjustment.
